CHRISTLETON CRICKET CLUB..newly decorated after the fire.

Last summer there was an awful fire at our lovely cricket club in Christleton. Thankfully, no one was hurt and it was mostly smoke damage that caused such a mess in the lounge and kitchen.

This is the table I used for the cricket teas.

Games continued thanks to the good weather and the teas were taken outside. Al fresco dining was fun for a while but the novelty soon wore off.  We never EVER have packets of crisps but I needed food that was ready wrapped that wouldn't dry up in the sun. We had  no water, no electricity, no way of mashing a pot of tea, so a combination of cartons and flasks had to do. Mrs Bear the Tea Lady wasn't going to be defeated!

LOOK AT IT NOW!!!!! :)

Bernie and the footballers have done the most magnificent job of resurrecting the club after hours of scrubbing, painting, carpeting, wheeling and dealing and everything elsing and

... I'VE EVEN GOT A NEW KITCHEN !

It's light, it looks bigger, we have patio windows, spotlights in the lowered ceiling..

It really is quite a transformation :)

Last night was our pre-season cricket do. Husb and I always enjoy this event - it's great to see everyone again after the winter. Arthur looked fantastic after losing 3 stone.

The buffet was superb (Mrs Harvey never disappoints, to be fair) and Terry nearly won the Heads and Tails. Val won a bottle of whisky and Husb made a nice speech. It was all very lovely.

Good luck for the coming season, lads.
It's not going to be easy. But I will try and feed you well :)
