This walk starts at a coastal car park and goes inland to the River Birket Cycleway. Although the route includes some urban areas, it is still an excellent circular walk along a river bank and then returning along the North Wirral Coast, part sea wall and part sand dunes.
So we set off ...
with our trusty guide (he looks more like a racehorse trainer than a walking guide)
and followed the "River" Birket.
There may have been plenty of wildfowl but there was hardly any water in the ditch and SO MUCH LITTER, a shopping trolley, a mattress, oh I'm not wasting time typing litter items, it just wasn't the most pleasant start to the walk.
THIS made out future SIL's face light up though, I thought he might hop across the ditch and buy some French Fancies.
The small building where Husb is heading is the Apollo club...
Look what was on the wall of it! About a year before they became very famous, THE BEATLES played here.
They gained popularity in the United Kingdom after their first hit, "Love Me Do", in late 1962. They acquired the nickname "the Fab Four" as Beatlemania grew in Britain over the following year, and by early 1964 they had become international stars,
I was so excited I did a handstand.
And a few yards further up was a fish 'n'chip hut (the chips smelt delicious-we will bear this in mind next time we come to this area!) but we had a welcome mug of tea and Drake and I had a Mother's Day hug.
THIS was more like it, a walk on the beach! The walk looped back to the car, along the beach.
Very pleasant! The ginger scones were delicious too. Thanks Nem. :)
