New bathroom =)

Our old bathroom has been sad and neglected for a long time. We had a carpeted bath with taps that were stuck, grotty tiles, a shower that leaked and a shower screen that kept falling off.

Year 2012 is Ali's "Year of Having a Little Man Round" so I contacted Alan-the-Plumb... I went to Aerobics on Day 1 and when I returned 2 hours later the whole room had been gutted and the bathroom was in the garden.

Luckily I have shower facilities at work but you don't half have to take some bags with you ...this is Sian and me on our way to a 50th, we had more bags between us than the local CO-OP). (Nice Orla)

Various pipes were laid and connected as we were having the radiator and the sink on the opposite side, the shower in the opposite corner.

The walls were boarded up next.

And then the new bathroom arrived. Kitchen chaos! It suited me fine because I couldn't POSSIBLY cook a meal in those conditions and I'm quite partial to a carvery.

Sammie insisted on sitting in her corner whether there was a basin, toilet or unit in the way or not!

The shower was put into position first.

The walls covered up a multitude of blemishes.

The floor was ready for tiling.

Alan the Plumb did a good job of the window.

Mike the Spark came to fit the spot lights and extractor fan but it involved going into the roof space in the attic. Oooeerrrr. Dust everywhere! That little door hasn't been opened for 20 years! All sorts of characters were lurking... Rosie and Jim, Spot, Winnie, Superted...and all of Liddy's amazing knitted scarecrows...all safe and well!

Wooo! Look at our posh shower cubicle!

The transformation has been amazing. It wasn't without a few hiccups though. A powercut in the street on Day 1, Alan falling down our stairs, a leaky pipe in the hall (yes HALL), the wrong size light, the wrong type of fan and 2 tiles short.

BUT IN THE END A MAGNIFICENT JOB. We are so pleased with it. Thank you Dad. I can't actually believe it is in our house, it is SOOOOO posh.

It is a much lighter grey in real life but what do you think?

I can definitely feel how proud you are of your new bathroom. And I surely appreciate the video that went along with it. Reading the blog was like reading an adventure story of a bathroom transformation. What a magnificent job indeed and kudos to all that helped!
