I think we were all intrigued as to how the theatre would use 12,000 litres of water in the staging of
Singin' In The Rain. Judging by the texts and comments I've had though, no one was disappointed.
Wow, what a great show. I had a full coach of 50 keep fitters-actually mostly aqua ladies which was very fitting haha- and we had great seats in the stalls. Though NOT on the front row which looked rather wet! So THAT was why the orchestra was up at the top of the stage instead of being in the pit. The rain itself was definitely worth the ticket price and even the squeegee handlers took a bow when they had finished drying out the stage. It was brilliantly done.
In fact it looked like such a fun show to be part of. The cast seemed to be enjoying it as much as the audience and not just the splashing about in the water bits. How the impressive, hilarious Cosmo didn't give himself an injury performing his MAKE 'EM LAUGH number was a miracle and he has to do that every night! Similarly, "Lina Lamont" had to be a good singer to be able to act singing THAT bad- how does she not get a sore throat after all that screeching?!
It was good old fashioned fun with fantastic choreography, (♫ ♪ ♯ Moses Supposes ♫ ♪ ♯ in particular) and I absolutely HAD to buy a mug. (Quote Husb..."and where is THAT going to go?" haha) We all absolutely loved it - it was "AN EVENING OF PURE JOY" =)
