LISBON

The first time we went to Lisbon, in 1980, we nearly missed the train back to the Algarve. This time, 29 years later we nearly missed the boat! Lisbon`s Metro only has 4 lines but they managed to confuse us.

Getting to the Vasco da Gama complex on the Metro was fine and we had a lovely hour in the Oceanarium where we saw...

sea otters!!

PUFFINS!!
and the most enormous elephant fish I`ve ever seen, it was a brilliant place, very impressive.

Then I got the Husb IN A CABLE CAR WUTWOOOO!! which took us along the bay and included an opportunity for viewing/taking photos in the middle. (That`s what I told the Husb... I personally thought it was a power cut OMG OMG and we were definitely swaying...oooooeeeerrr...

We managed a look round the Henri Fantin-Latour (1836-1904) exhibition. His early work was dedicated mainly to self portraits, but later he became almost obsessed with his depiction of flowers. Husb was impressed with his paintings of people`s expressions, particularly people who looked "miles away" and as if they were uncomfortable and wishing they were somewhere else.

...and then we had to try and find our shuttle bus back to the boat!
