Husb and I did a bit of wheeling and dealing yesterday while the others were biking over Golden Gate Bridge. Which was a 3 for 2 (6 for 4) HopOnHopOff bus ticket with a brand new company
Yellow Bus.
You could tell it was a new company. There was a limited number of stops for a start and we had a driver who had less enthusiasm than Trevor Francis on a nil nil draw... but it was another good day.
We went into Macy's just to use the loos.
Ian had a "hart dawg".
We had a walk through Golden Gate Park.
We did a team plank on a plank.
We had another ride over Golden Gate Bridge.
We met Leonardo DiCaprio.
And there was plenty of room on the bus.
Wade in, Ian, Wade in :)
(Hot dog.....TICK)
We walked through the De Young Museum sculpture park in Golden Gate Park which had work by Claes Oldenburg and his wife Coojse van Bruggen who have done a lot of giant
Here in Golden Gate Park is their 21ft tall safety pin. How ace is this!
Conkers? No, apples. Disney apples!
By Gustav Kraitz.
Reflections of my orange top and Husb's blue top in the metal....
...of this.
One installation was a round room with a hole in the roof that looked like absolutely nothing and we sat there saying "What are we supposed to be looking at?" "The shelf." "What shelf?" and suddenly we were doing exactly what he intended for us to do and that was to TALK ABOUT IT.
There was no shelf.
Oh wait.... there was.
I think.
But enough Art.
We had a plank to do.
Little did I know Ian was looking for the ideal photo opportunity.
The bridge would have been good if it hadn't been so high.
It dwarfed the Hennies.
Nem needed a lift.
Then Ian saw the perfect log.
TEAM PLANK!
The camera LIES!
This was treacherously steep.
It's such a pretty park.
It is the third most visited park in the U.S. and home to ten lakes.
Who would have thought that a Scotsman, who wouldn't take NO for an answer, was responsible for making good enough quality soil out of sand and horse manure to create one of San Francisco's greatest treasures, the Golden Gate Park after others before him had deemed it impossible. His name was John Maclaren and his target was to plant ONE MILLION trees (apparently that target has nearly been reached.)
Back on the bus it was getting cold and blustery so we stayed on till the Golden Gate Bridge.
which today was looking atmospheric in the fog.
(Yesterday had deffo been the best day for a bike ride over it)
(and the proposal)
I've still not seen anyone else doing this :)
And yes, Leo is still here then.
