Budapest. Buda.

Budapest, Hungary’s capital, is bisected by the River Danube. Its 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with flat Pest. A funicular runs up Castle Hill to Buda’s Old Town, where the Budapest History Museum traces city life from Roman times onward. Trinity Square is home to 13th-century Matthias Church and the turrets of the Fishermen’s Bastion, which offer sweeping views.

The Market Square was so crowded so we just headed up to the Parliament Building.
And on the way...
Well, what do you know, Husb found a Marks :)

Parliament Building.

During the port briefing our lady said Parliament was overrated and not worth going inside, but what WAS she on about? It was stunning. The staircases, the gold leaf, the highly protected crown, it was all beautiful.

I think you'll agree it was rather nice inside?

But then it started to rain and rain and rain.

By the time we had got half way up to the MUST SEE Fisherman's Bastion we were soaked but we pressed on as we were so nearly there and it would be WELL WORTH IT.  Hmmmm.
The "sweeping views" were masked by cloud and they were no better than the views on our sail in.
PLUS, we had to PAY!! Just to go up 10 steps to see it.
This was becoming the city of misinformation!
"Don't go to Parliament but definitely trudge up a hill to the Fisherman's Bastion"
And be ripped off!
Indeed.

So without further ado, we scuttled back down the hill and warmed our little selves up at the

What a treat!
Into a 36 degree pool. Cold plunge. Into a 40 degree pool. Whooosh.
The steam room was so steamy you couldn't actually see if anyone was IN it,
and outside was superb.
Still raining, in the dark, with the cold air on our faces while hot steaming jets were gently jacuzziing our now thawed bodies. Bliss.
Chester so needs the roof taking off City Baths and some hot hot hot spa baths installing.
What are we messing about at?

The Hungarian themed tea meant I had salad and chips but the Arosa Donna special cocktail with vodka, cranberries and rose syrup was delicious.

Meanwhile back home in the UK the girls and  their boys were having a ball at Saltburn by the Sea.
