Malaga ... THE ALHAMBRA

Just outside Granada City stands the magnificent ALHAMBRA PALACE which was built under the Nasrid dynasty in the 1300's. It represents the rulers' idea of paradise on Earth.

"Alhambra" means Red Castle, so called because of its reddish walls and although modest materials were used- timber, tiles and plaster-some of the tiles look like they have been carved from ivory, they are so intricate.

What a treat. It was well worth the 80 mile trip from port. Just when you thought one room was fabulous you went into the next room which was even more amazing. It is a beautiful place.

I couldn't fail to be impressed by these myrtle bushes...

Patio de Arrayanes, what lovely reflections

Patio de los Leones,
124 slender marble columns each with a differently carved capital

It was a baking hot day so all the water features sparkled and reflected and glittered and it was all simply beautiful.

Patio of the Irrigation Ditch, Generalife.

A fabulous day, we loved it. Back to the ship for dinner (smart casual) (ha ha)
