Dominica Nov 2014

Last night's singer had said how lovely the Hot Springs tour was (and it looked like something we could do ourselves) so on arrival in Dominica we nabbed a taxidriver who took us to TIA HOT SPRINGS which were much quieter than the springs visited by the cruise ships.

Wow! Just WOW.
We had the whole place to ourselves.
The 3 hot pools were completely natural but had been made a little more user friendly by being enclosed and with a couple of steps to get in and out.

Dominica has 9 active volcanoes and these hot springs were an amazing example of geothermal activity, the water in the pool was unbelievably hot.

Amazing.
Words can't really describe how wonderful we felt afterwards. Husb was fit for nothing, he was so relaxed.
Doctors should prescribe visits to places like this.
Skin problems, rheumatism and arthritis etc could be history if we could all have a pool like this in our garden.
The photos give no idea how hot the water was but honestly I bet if I had taken a teabag I could have mashed a cuppa with the incoming water stream, it was so hot.

We dipped in and out of the pools surrounded by beautiful foliage and flowers, under bunches of bananas, alongside a fast flowing river with enormous tree roots AND WE SAW A HUMMINGBIRD!
What a day :)

It was just lovely.

As we waited for our taxi to come back we watched
"Brenda, the Vendor who was so Tender"
(yes,seriously)
feeding the cute little bananaquits.
Sugar and coconut. They went mad for it.

The 5pm stomp around the deck at sailing time was spectacular again.

We would be seeing plenty more beautiful sunsets.

Dominica is a lush lush island, chuck away an apple core and there will be a tree there in a couple of years time. The taxi driver said (can you believe he actually said this)  there are so many mangoes in the mango season, the natives DRIVE OVER THEM, there are just too many. (To think what we have to pay for them ...)

We returned to Ventura from the most wonderfully relaxing, chilled, best-ever-superb day to come back to reality with the news that the lovely Bean had passed away that morning. (Tues 25th November) How quickly emotions can change. Such sad news.

Life is too short. Just live it. Enjoy every moment.
