After THREE (THREE!) days at sea , we were ready for LAND again.
We got the tender off the ship
and boarded this boat
and headed towards here
the island of Jost Van Dyke
with the most incredible sand that just crumbled
and seemed to go for ever.
Ventura visitors were given sun beds but there was too much beautiful sand to walk on.
I was in the sea before the last of the cruise peeps had transferred to the shore
AND I SWAM WITH A PELICAN
(not my photo but it looked like this.)
There was a tinselly tree on the beach.
Well it WAS nearly Christmas.
I think the angel had had too many PAINKILLERS.
oh...oh...OH ...the sand....
Lunch was provided.
And so was the rum. SOOOO much RUM
Frigate birds circled overhead with their bright red necks gleaming in the sun.
The sunbeds didn't get used... we had to go and investigate the Soggy Dollar Bar, origin of the cocktail Painkiller. The bar was so named because visitors would swim to shore from their boats and pay for their drinks with soggy dollars.
The Painkiller recipe has stayed secret but click here is the next best thing.
Yes of course I bought a tee shirt (3 in fact)
oh..oh...OH...the sand...
It was pure bliss (and a little bit amusing) sinking into that sand as I sideplanked.
Another superb day. I've forgotten about Grand Turk already.
