Madagascar, Diego Suarez

Today we were sooo brave.
We negotiated a taxi to the Three Bays.
We weren't sure what to expect but laughed when we saw it.
A DelBoy and Rodney yellow Renault 5 like from the 70's,
not much bigger than a tuktuk but with a bit more power.
I couldn't even get in!
I had to open the door through the window.

Husb was squished.

The windscreen wiper was stuck.

A screw driver was wedged into the steering wheel.

Thank heavens it got us there and BACK.
Half an hour of bumpy roads, pot holes and corrugated iron but also fabulous scenery as he drove round the bay hooting his horn like a mad thing at everything and anything.

Not even just one piece of corrugated iron, but patchwork.

We eventually got to Remana Beach, the most northerly point of Madagscar.
It's the most popular beach in Diego Suarez and we loved it.

We walked along as far as we could before nearly getting arrested for trespassing. We hadn't noticed the camouflaged military personnel in the tin hut who came out shouting when we approached.
Ooops.

They wanted to charge us for going right on to the first bay (Pigeon Bay?)
so we reversed, planked and had a little swim.

Cows just wandered about looking for ANYTHING green to eat...

and HOW does she do this?!
That was a HEAVY sack and she made it look effortless.

It was absolutely delightful.
But we had to do the return journey, yikes.

The pot holes were still there.

It was a great day.
Scary but sooo worth it (I could  say that once we'd got back to the boat)
Superb sunset.
Great dinner and a hilarious show by the crew.
