7 Zoo, Druridge Bay beach, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

Northumberland Country Zoo

was a lovely little zoo with everything from COCKROACHES to SNOWLEOPARDS

I cant believe I took a photo of cockroaches.

The owl display was really good.

It was on BBC News recently that 2 snow leopard cubs had been born !!

Anyways enough of that, we had a beach to get to.
This time Druridge Bay as it was close to where the Bells were staying.
Which meant we could nip and have a brew there afterwards...a bit of home comfort instead of the campervan. Have you remembered we were still sleeping  in the campervan.

But our day was still young.
We did a diversion on the way back to camp via Newbiggin-by-the-Sea,
which is famous for its statue of
THE COUPLE
-the UK's first permanent offshore sculpture by Sean Henry.
It was commisioned by Inspire Northumberland after the completion of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea's sea defence breakwater scheme in 2007.

The 2 figures look out to sea (don't we all when we are on the beach) watching the ever changing seascape... and it needed planking!

Apparently we stumbled across yet another golf course which I can't remember but I DO remember trying to open a tin of tomatoes when we got back to the van and the tin opener that had been provided collapsed and fell apart in my hands.
