LONDON with CUB and EMILY

OHMYDAYS
WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY
FROM START TO FINISH
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

We were seeing our Cubster for the first time in nearly three years.

We got the train into London Bridge station from Epsom and headed to Pan Pacific where Cub and Emily were staying, which included a walk over London bridge and the sparkling Thames.

...and there he was!

Look!

Okay, quick hug and "Can we go for breakfast now?"
Some things never change :)
So we nipped to Eatily for brunch, followed by Smithfields market while Cub and Em  had covid tests,

and then we let Em catch up on jet lag sleep while we walked among elephants.

which I absolutely LOVED.

We walked past THE MONUMENT
which was built between 1671-1677 to commemorate the Great Fire of London(1666)
and stands at 202ft high (202ft was the distance to the stating point of the fire in Pudding Lane)
.It is the tallest free standing stone column in the world.

And then we boarded a boat!

We were going to Greenwich!

We passed the London Eye, the tallest ferris wheel in Europe.
with a 120m diametre.
It cost £70million to build and it opened on New Years Eve  31/12/99 to celebrate the millenium.

Cleopatra's Needle was erected in Egypt by Pharoah Thotmes 111 and presented to the British people in 1819 in recognition of Nelson's victory over the French at the Battle of The Nile in 1798

The Platinum Jubilee Flotilla!

Look at us!
We couldn't stop smiling.

We arrived at Greenwich and the Cutty Sark.
Launched in 1869 for the china tea trade, it is now the last of the great tea clippers.

Heck it was HOT.
There wasn't enough TEA.
Although we tried.

We didn't look round the Cutty Sark museum as there was an exciting cable car ride to be had.
But how to get there?
Oh Cub just knew.
We walk through the park and then this is the bus and this is where it stops and this is the longer way round but it will save waiting for the other bus...
he just knows London..
so ...we just followed him.
#betterthananymap

And up we went.
Yes "WE" included Husb.

We flew 90ft high over the O2 Arena Millenium Dome...

..and naturally I DID A PLANK!
In a wobbly cablecar, over the Thames, 90 ft high. YAY.

This colourful walkway is called The Tide...this perfect planking opportunity could not be missed.

We needed to get back to the Shard to catch the train back to Epsom and I surprised myself by getting the whole of the Shard in one shot! I had to lie on the pavement but hey...
Cub needed to wake Em up so we said our cheerios for now and headed back to the racecourse.

After the sunset last night, we couldn't resist another look.
You would think we had walked enough...London is big... but we did a lap of the Epsom Downs course (2 miles) under the setting sun and it was the perfect end to a perfect day.

After messing about in the stalls haha.

WEDDING TOMORROW!
