Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby 31/7/22

How quaint is Robin Hoods Bay!

It reminded me of a TV drama set.

However we saw it in "Pater Kay" rain

Peter Kay rain didn't stop the ice cream van though.

Then we pushed on to Whitby to explore the abbey grounds.

How it would have looked...

Hild first founded a monastery here in 657 on land given to her by King Oswiu.

Folklore says she miraculously rid the clifftops of snakes and is honoured by geese flying overhead.

Bram Stoker knew Whitby well and he set part of his novel DRACULA against the Abbey's scenic ruins.

we got swept up in the euphoria of England Lioness's big match tonight so we settled down in a pub with a tele and watched them beat Germany 2-1 to become 

EUROS CHAMPIONS!!!

We could almost HEAR them cheering up the road in Hinderwell.
